The challenges and opportunities for China’s workers in the Year of the Ox
In Chinese astrology, the ox is often seen as hard working, stubborn and determined. And it is imperative in the coming year that China’s workers remain equally stubborn and determined to defend their rights and interests. The global economic crisis threatens to derail much of the progress made by China’s workers over the last few years in securing new labour legislation and, in some regions at least, the backing of the official trade union.
