State's job growth slowing, GSU forecaster says
A weakening economy will cut job growth from prior forecasts and cries out for at least modest action by the Federal Reserve, Rajeev Dhawan, director of the Economic Forecasting Center at Georgia State University, said Wednesday. The state should add about 55,200 jobs this year, roughly three-quarters of them in metro Atlanta, Dhawan said in a report released at the center's quarterly forecasting conference. "We have downgraded the Georgia job forecast number for 2007 by about 10,000 from our February forecast," he said.
