Union OKs contract with 5 Twin Cities hospitals

Hospital workers in the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 113 ratified a new three-year contract Wednesday with five hospital groups in the Twin Cities, after working without a contract since March. The union did not release the vote count. The SEIU had made affordable health care for its members its top concern. Language in the approved contract is unchanged from one rejected last week, except it sets up a management-employee committee to look into cost-containment ideas, according to the SEIU announcement.
