Delta gives workers post-Ch. 11 payouts
Delta Air Lines employees got a "thank you" of the direct deposit variety Tuesday. A day after Delta's formal emergence from bankruptcy, the Atlanta carrier distributed cash awards to its rank-and-file employees as part of a cash-and-stock package the company had announced earlier. The $130 million went to about 39,000 non-union employees and 1,000 mid-level managers and equaled 8 percent of their 2006 pay. The average payout: about $3,200, the company said.
