Airline union leaders have been subjected to a political bloodbath this year, the latest casualty being Duane Woerth. A Northwest Airlines 747 captain, Woerth narrowly lost his bid last week for a third term as president of the Air Line Pilots Association International. The winner was Continental pilot John Prater, who said, "After five years of concessionary bargaining, lost pensions, and battered work rules, our pilots are primed to take offensive action."
