Three unions and a national business group are tackling the problem of housing and jobs in New Orleans

With tens of thousands of residences destroyed or made uninhabitable by the storm and its floodwater, affordable housing has become a rarity — especially across the New Orleans region — with skyrocketing real estate prices and rents. At the same time, the region isn’t hurting for jobs, especially in the skilled construction trades.
