A bankruptcy judge ruled Wednesday that the Northwest Airlines Corporation can impose a new contract on its flight attendants on July 17. The flight attendants' union has said it reserves the right to strike if that happens, although it has played down that talk in recent weeks. The airline, based in Eagan, Minn., has said that a strike would be illegal and that it would seek to block one in court.
